Yu Jeffrey Hu
Yu “Jeffrey” Hu is Sharon A. and David B. Pearce Professor, Co-Director of Business Analytics Center, Associate Director of Master of Science in Analytics Program, and Director of China Program, at the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research studies the impact of information technologies on consumer behavior, firm strategy, and market competition. He coauthored the first paper on the "Long Tail" phenomenon in Internet markets and the first paper on the value of social media content in predicting stock markets.
His research has been discussed extensively and cited by media outlets such as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Reuters, Bloomberg, InformationWeek, Wired Magazine, TIME Magazine, INC. Magazine, etc. He has won several research awards including the inaugural Management Science Best Paper Award in Information Systems.
He is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and has taught top decision makers of many companies. He has consulted for governments in the U.S., China, and Europe, and conducted research or consulted for many companies around the world.
Dr. Hu received a Ph.D. in Management Science and Information Technology from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, a M.S. in Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a B.S. in Finance from Tsinghua University.
