Culminating a semester of hard work, 2024 A-Lab students, faculty, mentors, and industry leaders came together to share their results–and name a winner– last week. The student team with the best data-based solution to a host organization’s problem had their names etched on the iconic A-Lab trophy, securing a spot in MIT’s research history.
The 2024 MIT Analytics Lab (A-Lab) final presentations, hosted by the IDE, took place on December 13 with 21 student projects representing 21 companies. An expert panel of judges made up of, Renée Richardson Gosline (MIT Sloan/MIT IDE), Tod Loofbourrow (ViralGains), and Michael Schrage (MIT IDE/Imperial College Business School), had the difficult task of selecting just one winning project.
Ultimately, the trophy went to Vitalytics representing Sanofi (mentored by: Tomasz Grzegorczyk) for their project, “Patient Like Me.” The team, pictured above, from left, are: Jaeyoon Wang, Naiqi Zhang, Nidhish Nerur and Hunter Sporn (holding the trophy). Sanofi, a multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare company, was seeking ways to leverage data for optimal patient treatments.
The runner-up was team AnalytiXAvengers, representing Gordian (mentored by: Pradeep Swamy). Their project, “Forecasting Construction Material Price” took second place. Team members included: Badiss Ben Abdallah, Ismail Berbache, Malcolm Gaynor, and Shane Epstein-Petrullo .
