Emma Wiles

Digital Fellow

Emma Wiles is an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems group at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and a digital fellow at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence in labor markets and the design of online platforms.

She earned her PhD from MIT Sloan in 2024. Her dissertation, Artificial Intelligence and Labor Market Matching, received the University of Padua’s International PhD Thesis Award in Artificial Intelligence in Entrepreneurship and Management (AIEM).

Previously, she worked as a researcher at the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, where she studied the effects of the Seattle minimum wage. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics, awarded in 2015.
