Xinlan Emily Hu

Xinlan Emily Hu is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Institute for Data Systems and Society (IDSS) at MIT. Emily’s research sits at the intersection of teamwork and technology. She uses computational methods to study the factors that make a group collaboration successful, with the aim of designing computing systems that help groups (of humans, AI agents, or both) achieve their full potential. Emily earned her B.S. in Computer Science (with Honors and a concentration in human-computer interaction) and M.S. in Symbolic Systems at Stanford University, and her Ph.D. in Operations, Information, and Decisions from the Wharton School.
